Livestock Tracking

With our livestock tracking solution, you can automatically capture and locate animals, from large individual animals to entire herds. This allows you to efficiently manage and monitor processes such as feeding or grazing on the field, speed up workflows, and gain valuable data for analysis.

Challenges: Manual location and monitoring of livestock is uneconomical

Lack of real-time data for animal location

Insufficient tracking of animal movements

High time expenditure for manual inventory and identity checks

Insufficient monitoring of health parameters

How pyliot can help

Precise animal localisation:

Thanks to GPS, LoRa, BLE, and cellular technologies, animals can be located in real time, even in remote areas, thanks to hybrid technologies.

Automated inventory management

RFID tags enable fast and precise identification of each animal. This ensures that inventory data can be easily updated and kept up-to-date.

Alerts & notifications

Receive alerts via SMS or email for absent movements or animals leaving geofenced areas, allowing you to intervene immediately.

Flexible hardware for tracking & identification

Our trackers combine cutting-edge technologies such as GPS, cellular networks, and LoRa to provide seamless monitoring of your livestock. The robust housing can be customised to meet the specific requirements of your environment, and the devices offer flexible options for attachment to animals.

How do the trackers work?

Our trackers capture precise location and movement data, supplemented by sensors for temperature, humidity, and other relevant environmental parameters. Additionally, RFID tags, often placed on the animal’s ear, are used for identification via RFID readers. Location determination and data transfer in real time are enabled through GPS, cellular networks, LoRa, or BLE. In remote areas, a gateway may be required to reliably forward the data to the cloud. Our solution provides all the necessary components from one source.

How long can the hardware be used without maintenance?

The lifespan of our trackers depends on usage intensity and environmental conditions, ranging up to 8 years. The trackers feature replaceable or rechargeable batteries and their robust construction minimses maintenance intervals—ideal for monitoring livestock across large areas.

How can tracking data be accessed?

Via the pyliot app, you can access your data anytime and from any device through a browser. The IoT platform offers real-time access, a data history, and notifications for threshold violations for prompt action.

How many users can use the pyliot app?

There is no limit to the number of users. The system administrator can add as many users as needed and individually configure their access permissions.

Who can access the data?

Each customer receives their own instance, accessible exclusively by them. Neither pyliot nor third parties can access the data without explicit consent, whether collected on the pasture or in barns. Support access is granted only upon request.

Can the data be integrated into other systems?

Our solutions enable seamless integration of all captured sensor and location data into ERP, WMS, or other customer systems. Data can be retrieved via direct integration or API interfaces. We’re happy to assist with the technical implementation.

Which animals are suitable for the trackers?

Our trackers are specifically designed for large livestock like cattle, horses, or sheep. They can be securely attached to collars, with free sight to ensure an optimal GPS connection. RFID tags can also be used for smaller animals.

How is the setup done?

The trackers can be activated with a click of a button. Comprehensive documentation is provided for setup and integration with the pyliot App.

How many animals can be connected?

Our solution can scale to over 1,000,000 animals as well as numerous locations and users. Thanks to multi-tenancy and precisely defined access rights, you can even create individual instances under your brand name for your customers.

What costs arise for the tracking solutions?

Costs depend on several factors, such as:
- The number of animals to be tracked
- Frequency and range of sensor data
- On-site infrastructure (e.g., LoRa gateways, RFID readers)

In the classic model, costs are a combination of one-time hardware purchases and ongoing fees for data connectivity and pyliot App usage.

Alternatively, we offer a full-service model where the entire infrastructure is provided as a service. Initial costs are eliminated, leaving only predictable ongoing costs.

Our experts are happy to assist in selecting the most suitable and cost-efficient solution for your needs.
